Eco Farm Skills

In 2019, Northern Co-Hort has been offering the Eco Farm Skills program to our Co-Hort Eco-Farm Producers. In exchange for mentorship to the students who are eager to learn about soil health focused agriculture, agroecology, regenerative ranching, permaculture and local marketing, our producer members are able to access students when they are needed throughout the growing season to ensure labour intensive tasks are completed.

For producers, the Eco Farm Skills program provides workers who can help on your farm for a subsidized rate as well as an opportunity to pass on your knowledge to the next generation of farmers. Our students come ready to learn and work hard on your farm! Eco Farms Skills students are available to Co-Hort members with a Co-Hort Eco-Farm Producer membership.

In 2023 we will be entering our 5th year offering the Eco Farm Skills program to producer members of the Northern Co-hort who are seeking engaged labour to support their operations.  In exchange for mentorship to the students who are eager to learn about soil health focused agriculture, agroecology, regenerative ranching, permaculture and local marketing, our producer members are able to access students when they are needed throughout the growing season to ensure labour intensive tasks are completed.

In 2020 we started to pilot hands-off market access for producer members so they could have a consistent presence at the local farmers markets throughout the busy season. Job postings are up on our website if you know any youth or students who would be interested in learning and growing with the Northern Co-hort this summer.
